Healthtalk Australia, the Monash Centre for Health Research and Implementation (MCHRI), Monash University, the Victorian Assisted Reproductive Treatment Authority (VARTA), the Centre for Research Excellence in Women’s Health in Reproductive Life (CRE-WHiRL) and RMIT University’s Social and Global Studies Centre launched the new Healthtalk Australia online resource, Experiences of Infertility and Fertility Treatment on 22nd June.
The resource was launched by Anna Macleod, CEO of VARTA, with a welcome from Professor Helena Teede, Chief Investigator of CRE-WHiRL & Director of MCHRI,
The Experiences of Infertility and Fertility Treatment online resource presents short multimedia films about the experiences of 25 women and gender-diverse people living in Australia who have generously shared their stories of infertility and fertility treatment. It also features short ‘explainers’ about different aspects of infertility and fertility treatments, provides links to evidence-based information and offers support to those with infertility who are undergoing fertility treatment.
The resource aims to support and provide information to women and gender-diverse people, their friends and family, and health practitioners. It has been developed based on qualitative research conducted by researchers at RMIT University with clinical research support from MCHRI and Robinson Research Institute, as part of CRE-WHiRL.
The expert panel included:
- Professor Beverley Vollenhoven, reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist
- Associate Professor Jacqueline Boyle, academic gynaecologist-obstetrician
